We love it when an engagement shoot reflects the couple and who they are. For Jeanny and Anthony, they were able to get access to the Seven Grand Bar in Downtown Los Angeles for their engagement photography session. This was a place they frequented as law students (they are both lawyers now), so it has a special meaning to them.
We started earlier in the day to get the bar before any happy hour patrons came in, which means we had the whole place to ourselves. We got some awesome photos to show for it!
After the bar, we headed to the Grand area of downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) to finish up the shoot. Luckily, I was able to get pictures at this water fountain that we LOVE shooting at, but has lately been shut down due to too many rude and obtrusive photographers abusing an awesome location (trust me, we knew and talked to the security guards about it). It’s an example of how we, as professional photographers, have to respect locations and the people at them. I took the following pictures I needed in 5 minutes (and 21 seconds to be exact) without disturbing anyone.
After that we headed to the Walt Disney Concert Hall for more photos. It has become a staple of engagement photography in downtown Los Angeles, so I always try to do something new or different if possible. Three pictures down I was able to get a unique image I haven’t seen before, which is especially harder to do in daylight.
The funny thing is that Jeanny and Anthony wanted to treat me to a drink back at Seven Grand (I’m a scotch guy). They wouldn’t let me in (even though we just shot in there) because I was wearing flip-flops. Maybe I’ll break my policy and sneak one in with them at their wedding! =) Check out the rest of our blog for more examples of engagement photography in Los Angeles, or for more examples of photography with water fountains.
