We got to do Huntington Library wedding photography for the first time in a long time! Ever since they raised their photography permit fees (due to some bad actors), it’s been near impossible for most of our couples to have a session on these beautiful and historic grounds. Our couple had their elopement wedding ceremony

Starting in the Chinese Garden

One thing that is unique about the Chinese Garden at the Huntington Library is that it is one of the few Chinese gardens designed for the land it’s on. Most gardens are predesigned in China and designed for square spaces (like a block in a city). This garden was designed for the contours of the land here in San Marino, California. And this bridge spanning the lake is just stunning.

We went for a stroll around the lake and caught their reflection off the water.

The Amazing Rose Garden at the Huntington Library

This time of year happened to have the flowers IN FULL BLOOM, with just a ridiculous number of roses gorgeously blooming. I highly recommend that everyone should see the rose garden in full bloom if possible.

I love how this rose garden gazebo frames our couple.

I think this photo from the day is one of our favorites. The dark storm clouds threatened to rain on us that day, but missed us and created moody skies.

The Japanese Garden

The Japanese garden at the Huntington Library has been used often for movies and other productions (my favorite is a Duran Duran music video).

We stopped in the desert biome for some pics with cacti. The Huntington Library is known for it’s multiple biomes and regions.

And here is a secret stairway that the general public can’t access. It was such a serene and unique spot.

We also found some bamboo on the south side of the gardens that framed our couple beautifully.
